Due to unforeseen changes to my summer plans, I decided to take a leap of faith by applying to volunteer for Small Changes (even though it was 2 weeks before the camp). Pleasantly surprised to be accepted, I could positively say that this camp has changed my life for the better. Among the major things that I learned, the first was that this camp reminded me to be grateful for my privileges and to always actively seek opportunities to give back to the community.
The second was that working together towards a common goal brings together people that you wouldn’t normally talk to, which was quite nice. And thirdly, to understand that every student has their own strength/way of learning/kind of intelligence and to broaden my mind to break away from the conformities of culture in regards to education.
